Is your service due?
Tell us when your caravan or motorhome was last looked after and we’ll show you what’s due now — then help you find trusted engineers covering your area.
Why annual checks matter
Caravans and motorhomes need a yearly habitation check and service to stay safe, roadworthy and warranty-compliant. Skipping them is one of the most common reasons insurance claims are reduced or refused, and the main way problems like damp go unnoticed until they’re expensive to fix. Use the checker above, then read our habitation check guide or browse engineers in your area.
Frequently asked questions
How often should a caravan or motorhome be serviced?
A full service and a habitation check are recommended annually. The habitation check covers damp, gas, electrics, ventilation and bodywork; the service covers the chassis, brakes and running gear (motorhomes also need their base-vehicle service). Annual checks help protect your warranty and satisfy most insurers.
How often is a gas safety check needed?
At least annually, and any time you suspect a fault or buy a used vehicle. Gas work should be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer with the relevant LPG/caravan categories.
What happens if my habitation check is overdue?
An overdue habitation check can invalidate parts of your warranty and may affect insurance claims. More importantly, it’s how problems like damp, faulty gas or electrical issues are caught early — so it’s worth booking as soon as you can.
Is this checker a substitute for manufacturer guidance?
No — it’s a general guide based on typical annual intervals. Always follow your manufacturer’s service schedule and your insurer’s requirements, which can differ by make, model and age.
