About caravan & motorhome services on the Yorkshire Coast
The Yorkshire coast runs from the cliffs and moorland edge around Whitby down through Filey and Bridlington to the long, low shoreline of Holderness at Hornsea. It is one of the north of England's most popular touring and holiday-caravan destinations, with large holiday parks around Filey and Bridlington, small farm and certificated sites behind Whitby, and a steady flow of touring caravans and motorhomes along the coast road all summer.
The terrain makes this a demanding coast for vehicles. Roads into Whitby cross the North York Moors, with long climbs and steep descents into the Esk Valley that test brakes, tyres and towing set-ups. Further south, the land flattens out, but the coast is exposed to strong easterly winds and salt spray. Brake and running-gear checks, damp testing and seal repairs are all common requests.
The main routes are the A171 across the moors between Whitby, Scarborough and Teesside, the A169 from Pickering, the A64 from York towards Scarborough and Filey, and the A165 linking Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington with Hull. The A614 runs inland from Bridlington towards Driffield and the M62.
Many caravans here sit on seasonal pitches, so local engineers are used to working on-site at holiday parks. Owners touring the coast often need help at short notice, whether that is a fault with a fridge or heater, a leaking water system or a breakdown on the road. Supply is thinner than in the big inland towns, so it pays to know who covers your stretch of coast before you need them.
Spring is the best time to book servicing and habitation checks before the season starts. Late summer and autumn are busy with repairs and winterising.

Can an engineer come to a campsite on the Yorkshire Coast?
Most mobile engineers in touring areas will travel to campsites, seasonal pitches and holiday parks. Flag your enquiry as urgent and include the site name so they can route to you quickly.
Does my insurance cover emergency repairs on holiday?
Many caravan and motorhome breakdown policies include on-trip cover, but limits and excesses vary. Check your policy documents before authorising a repair, and keep all receipts.
How much more does an emergency call-out cost?
Out-of-hours and emergency call-outs typically carry a higher fee than a scheduled visit. Ask the engineer to confirm their call-out charge before they travel.
